We are not Child Custody lawyers…

We’re just a group of folks that’ll keep helping parents and relatives stand up for themselves and their children as long as we’re fit and capable of doing so. Call us whatever the hell you want. These days, what any of us call ourselves couldn’t matter less, but what we all do for each other couldn’t matter more…

It’s clear right now that our jobs are not who we are, but of course they never were.

But we are still whatever we “do.” Our team has been forced to wonder whether the institution of lawyering will ever look like what it has or whether it will even exist in some recognizable fashion, but we know how to reach people and we know how to help them hold their families together.

Family court judges…they’re still the last local defense against injustice, bullying, government overreach and threats to the welfare of children in a time when it’s all too easy to blast out an administrative order without regard to the unique circumstances of each parent, family and child.

“Being” a lawyer and “being” a Judge has never been less important, but doing the work of lawyering and judging has never been moreso.

As an example outside our field, say what you will about how important in society the institution of “pizza delivery guy or gal” has ever been, but it’s never been more important to deliver pizzas.

None of us have the luxury of wallowing around in our status, titles, roles or positions anymore. It’s an opportunity to take a hard look at what we actually do for our communities. It’s an opportunity to do anything and everything we can…as well as we can…for as long as we possibly can.
