Child Custody Devotional – Love Your Co-Parent as Yourself

Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37

~ It’s hard to love the unlovable. It’s hard to love a Co-Parent that disrespects you, or seeks to control or manipulate you or, worst of all, interferes with your relationship with your children. But we’re called to love them. We’ll be better for it in the long run.

~ That does NOT mean tolerate disrespect or control or manipulation. Loving doesn’t mean indulging mistreatment any more than loving your children means allowing them to misbehave. Accountability is a fruit of Love.

~ And I believe there’s a transitive property here, karma if you will. If you’re putting out Love, thinking Love, you will more easily see the world through the lens of Love. It will be easier to Love Yourself. And being the best Parent or Co-Parent you can be starts there.
