Foxtrot finishes May with second win before Alabama Court of Civil Appeals in the month

Updated: Aug 4

If you look around online, you’ll see that statistics on the success of appeals are between 7%-20%. Right at the end of last month, Foxtrot had its second win before the Court of Civil Appeals in the month of May alone. The case involved a Protection from Abuse action (PFA) and the trial court’s due process requirement to hold a hearing within 10 days of the entry of an ex parte order* affecting someone’s rights and liberty interests. When the trial courts fail to adhere to the strict timelines required by law, faith in the process and the rule of law suffers. Foxtrot is proud to stand up for our clients’ rights under the law and make sure proper procedures are enforced.

(* meaning an order entered without hearing from both sides of a case, so ex parte is like saying "without one part of the case")
